Our Story
About York Mosque
Rooted in York since 1982 — a place of worship, learning and community, proudly woven into the fabric of this historic city.
Who We Are
Serving York Since 1982
York Mosque & Islamic Centre — known as Jamia Masjid — has been the spiritual home of York's Muslim community for over four decades. We are a place of daily worship, Islamic education and active community engagement.
We are a branch of the United Kingdom Islamic Mission (UKIM), one of the oldest and most respected Islamic organisations in Britain, and are a registered charity (No. 250275).
From our Madrassah educating the next generation to our interfaith work with York Minster and beyond — we believe deeply in being active, compassionate neighbours to everyone in this city, regardless of faith or background.
